Carlo Gioja

Portfolio Manager - Head of Asia Business Development

Carlo brings to Plenisfer's multidisciplinary team a deep knowledge of Asian markets and a strong passion for long-term investing based on bottom-up fundamental research.

He lived in China for 20 years where, among other things, he was the chief representative in the country for Sanpaolo IMI, promoting the creation of Mandarin Capital Partners in 2006, one of the first funds focused on cross-border investments between China and Europe. In 2008, he joined the Investment Department of China Development Bank. From 2012 he worked as an entrepreneur and advisor to global businesses on cross-border M&A. During this time, he also served as a board member of Qingdao Bank and taught a course on China’s Capital Markets in the International MBA programme at the University of Bologna. He joins Plenisfer after founding an independent portfolio management company focused on long-term fundamental investing.

Carlo speaks Italian, English, Chinese and Japanese and holds an MSci degree in Mathematics from St Andrews University. In his spare time, he enjoys racquet sports and writing music.
